Leslie Blacklock, Acrylic Painter

Artist Biography – Leslie Blacklock

As a child, Leslie loved to draw and paint. She decided to pursue a career in design, completing a 2 year Architectural Engineering program in Moose Jaw and then a 4 year Interior Design degree at the University of Manitoba. After a 33 year design career, including 20 years with aodbt architecture and interior design (13 years as managing partner of the Prince Albert office), Leslie has once again taken up painting.

Having grown up on a mixed farm near Saskatoon, Leslie enjoys painting the Maybelle Farm barn and any Saskatchewan images that grab her heart. “Cows, Clouds, Barns and Elevators” was Leslie’s first solo exhibition at the Grace Campbell Gallery in Prince Albert. Leslie has an appreciation for the wide-open spaces of Saskatchewan but especially loves the Lakeland area where she now lives with her husband Allen. Her current work includes much of the daily scenery of her life in the Lakeland.

Leslie paints with the 1010 Studio on Monday afternoons at the Prince Albert Arts Centre, as well as at home, and continues to take classes and workshops to grow as an artist.
