Garry Miller, Live Edge Custom Furniture

Artist's statement:

My name is Garry F Miller. I create live edge, rustic/modern/contemporary furniture, at my Christopher Lake acreage. I try to follow environmental sustainability principles. The pieces that I create, I refer to them as being “functional pieces of art “. They are all uniquely distinctive , one of a kind, and very functional. They are in many cases a part of me.
The wood that I use is all locally, sourced, harvested, and milled, for my use by myself. I am happy to do any custom work for you. To view more of my creations, please go to Rustic furniture from Boreal Bauhaus on Facebook.

The wood that I use is from the Boreal Forest, from trees that once stood tall and proud, they were prominent, with their heads, held high , in the sun. Then….their “life “ ended. They came down or died a natural death or they came down for development. Then I came along. I am able to give them new life in your home, where they can once again be prominent, and hold their head high, and have new life, a new life, for generations to come.

I see wood differently, I try to listen to the wood speaking to me, and allow the character of the wood, the colour, the figure, the grain to be a focal point, so that it can showcase the “wow” factor that it has.
